We believe giving back makes a big difference. What about you?

Every year, we set aside funds to help out nonprofits and community projects. We love lending a hand by offering pro-bono services and marketing support to a few groups and organizations that align with our values. If you’re a non-profit or you’ve got a cool community project that needs some love, give us a shout and find out how we can support you.

International Women’s Day (IWD)

Why we love International Women’s Day:

International Women’s Day is more than just a global celebration—it’s also an annual community social hosted by the Nanaimo Foundation. Back in 2017, two awesome volunteers named Courtney Ndiaye and Anu Mayer started IWD Nanaimo, and they’ve been killing it ever since. Every year, they put on a fantastic night of fun and fundraising that helps support local women and girls.

Here’s how we support:

As a female-led business, we’re proud sponsors (and attendees) of this annual event as we strongly believe in empowering other women to succeed.

Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA)

Why we love VIEA:

Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) is a non-profit society committed to supporting local businesses and spearheading economic growth for Vancouver Island and the surrounding regions. They host the Vancouver Island Economic Summit—a two-day long event that brings together business, community and government leaders to share ideas, ask questions, network, and learn.

Here’s how we support:

Believe it or not, our team has been involved with the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) longer than Array has been around! Some of our team members were part of a company that initially created their brand and website. Since then, we’ve rebuilt their website and developed two sub-sites, Island Good and FTZVI. We continue to create custom graphics, offer ongoing maintenance, and remain a Gold Sponsor for the event.

Parksville Beach Festival

Why we love Parksville Beach Festival:

Parksville Beach Festival is an annual event that’s been going strong since 1982. Now known as The Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition & Exhibition, it’s famous for its epic sand sculptures, art vendors, and live music . With over five weeks of non-stop action, it’s no wonder that over 100,000 people flock to the festival every year.

Here’s how we support:

As huge fans of the event, our team designed and developed their website and has continued to sponsor the festival both with our time and donations. This year we designed and developed a new section of the website for Parksville’s Outdoor Theatre.

Nanaimo Science

Why we love Nanaimo Science:

Nanaimo Science (formerly known as NS3) is a charitable non-profit society that teaches kids to explore, observe and question the natural word. Since 2010, they’ve been on a mission to inspire children and their families to develop a life-long interest in science and sustainability. They offer all kinds of awesome activities to help kids learn, from hands-on sessions in the classroom to after-school programs and summer camps.

Here’s how we support:

In 2019, we teamed up with Nanaimo Science to rebrand and rebuild their online presence. We donated our time and resources to develop a brand new name, logo, and website. Today, we have team members who sit on the board and volunteer their time to help continue their mission to inspire change. Bonus – our kids have been huge fans of the camps and events they offer!

RB Hockey Development

Why we love RB Hockey Development:

RB Hockey Development offers week-long summer camps for kids who can’t get enough of the game. Founded in 2019 by two dedicated hockey fans, Corey Renwick and Dayton Boutilier, the camp helps young players train like pros and learn what it takes to be successful on and off the ice.

Here’s how we support:

As a sponsorship, our team partnered with RB Hockey to design and develop their first-ever site. The website helps streamline the registration process and keeps parents up-to-date on important milestones with a virtual countdown the RB Team can manually manage. We’re thrilled to sponsor this amazing crew and can’t wait to see all the impressive things these kids accomplish.

MakerSpace Nanaimo

Why we love MakerSpace Nanaimo:

MakerSpace Nanaimo is a total game-changer for community members who love to create and build things. This awesome community space is a clubhouse for makers where like-minded makers connect and gain access to tools, resources, and knowledge. From woodworking to welding, and even computer coding, the workshop/social hub welcomes adults and kids who want to get to know and support other makers in the community.

Here’s how we support:

As a sponsor, we helped design brand assets, including a pull-up banner. Plus, some of our team members are active volunteers there, too. We’re all about supporting our fellow makers, and MakerSpace Nanaimo is the perfect place to do just that.

Tom Harris Charity Classic

Why we love Tom Harris Charity Classic:

Tom Harris Classic Charity is an annual golf tournament that tees up funds for various causes in our community. The event is a celebration of the life and legacy of Tom Harris, a beloved member of the community who inspired many with his philanthropy.

Here’s how we support:

Our team chipped in by designing a logo and microsite to help promote the tournament. We continue to maintain the microsite, free of charge, as a way to give back and inspire others to follow in Tom’s footsteps.

Mid Island Business Initiative (MIBI)

Why we love MIBI:

Mid Island Business Initiative (MIBI) is passionate about providing privately funded economic development opportunities. Their mission is to facilitate regional growth by inviting and helping other companies achieve economic success. We got involved through our existing relationships with many MIBI members, including former CEO, John Hankins.

Here’s how we support:

We worked together with MIBI to create their brand presence, website, and marketing from scratch. The MIBI team gave us the freedom to bring our own creative ideas to the table and the opportunity to shape economic information that’s helpful to businesses and entrepreneurs interested in our area.

Nanaimo Museum

Why we love Nanaimo Museum:

Located in the heart of downtown, the Nanaimo Museum is a dynamic community hub offering award-winning exhibits and diverse interpretive programming. In their search for a company to revamp their website and redesign some of their print pieces, they were having a hard time finding a team to meet their needs on a limited budget.

Here’s how we support:

As a team that’s emotionally invested in our community, we were honoured to donate our time and resources to enhance their web presence and help increase visitors.

Leadership VI

Why we love Leadership VI:

Leadership VI is more than just a non-profit organization. It’s a community-driven initiative that aims to develop and inspire outstanding leadership, learning, and service on Vancouver Island. Largely run by volunteers (including former Array members), their leadership development programs empower individuals to become agents of change within our communities.

Here’s how we support:

After discussing their project goals and needs, we discovered that Leadership VI’s requirements were beyond the scope of their limited budget for a new web presence. We decided to volunteer our time and resources, and even sent two of our team members through their 2016-2017 class!
Their newly designed and restructured website helped them organize their marketing message and improve the online flow for registrations and inquiries.
