What is a Blog?
A Blog (shortened slang for web log) is a tool allowing you to write articles and other content, which is then posted in a chronological manner.
Why Should I Have One?
If you are a business owner, a blog can be a excellent tool for getting repeat business to your website and for establishing yourself as an expert in your field.
How-To
We will be using Google’s Blogger platform to set up your blog. While there are many other options for blogging, we find Blogger to be one of the most user friendly.
- Go to http://www.blogger.com
- A) If you already have a Google Account:
Login. Fill in the fields to sign up for a Blogger Account and click Continue.
B) If you don’t have a Google Account:
Click “Get Started”. Fill out all fields to create a Google Account, and click Continue. - Name your blog!
This will be the title people see when they visit. Also choose a short, memorable URL for your blog. This is the link people will click or type into their browser to reach your blog. - Choose a Template
Pick one of the template options by clicking on it – if you don’t like it, you can change it later. Click Continue. - Start Sharing!
You’re done! Click the Start Blogging link to write your first post. Once you have finished, click Publish Post. A message should come up saying your post was published successfully! There will be a large link which says “View Post.” Click it to see your new Blog! You can now copy the URL for your blog and start sharing it on your Facebook page, etc.
